October Outings

On the 11th we finally had the whole day off together and decided to take advantage of a break in the rain to go to Santa Monica Beach. We were hoping to hit up Ventura instead, but it was much colder there, so we opted for the dirtier-but-warmer beach haha.

Can't tell you how much I love this wagon - SO much easier to cart stuff across the sand!
We had a great time!! We totally forgot to pack swim diapers for Sam and it didn't take long for him to soak his shorts in seawater,

so we did things ghetto style and just let him run around in his big boy skivvies - don't judge me.

We would run out in the waves for a little while, picking up handfuls of colorful pebbles as we went,

and then come back and work on our masterpiece of the day, the Mayan Pyramid

Pretty cool, right? Paul was so proud of it. :)

When it got too cold for the waves, we headed back inland a little to the playground. The rope climb was a hit with little boys and big boys alike.

Then we hit the pier for a little while; the boys even convinced me to ride the ferris wheel! I am terrified of heights and it really freaked me out to have my rambunctious 2-year-old way up there, but he loved it and we survived. Barely.

It's so fun to get to do stuff like this, I love seeing Sam's reaction change as he gets older. This was the first time that he loved being in the water because it was fun rather than hating it because it was cold haha.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple weeks later we headed to the pumpkin patch for family not-so-home evening haha. I had pictures of the petting zoo and the step pyramid of straw but they magically disappeared from my camera, so we're stuck with what my phone saved.

The train ride was a huge hit, he was so excited to be puttering around at minimal speeds! :)

That's a scarecrow in the background - he was very intrigued by these and kept trying to ask them questions and make small talk.

Driving the firetruck - he was really aggravated that he couldn't reach the pedals but the ginormous wheel was cool anyway

The back of the firetruck was even better. One of Sammy's favorite things to do is "pull-ups" on any sort of bar - he got spectacular air on this one.

And the obligatory peeking out of the huge jack-o-lantern picture

Of course we had to check out the police truck, too.

Sammy had a great time jumping around everywhere and was thrilled with his pint-size pumpkin that he chose out!

love, mary
